Attributed to Guo Moruo (1892-1978). A pair of Chinese Duilian Calligraphic Scrolls ink on paper 2 seals 136.5 x 32.5 cm note: Guo Moruo, originally Guo Kaizhen was a celebrated Chinese scholar and well-recognised ladies' man. He was one of the leading writers of 20th-century and an important government official. The new-style poems that Guo published in Shishi xinbao ('new Journal on Current Affairs') were later compiled into the anthology Nu shen (1921; 'Goddess'). Its publication laid the first cornerstone for the development of new verse in china. In the same year, Guo, together with three others founded the Creation Society, which was one of the most important literary societies during this period in china. Reference: Gordon S.
