Description:
A Chinese painted pottery figure of a Prancing horse, Tang Dynasty (618-906). The spirited horse with reddened mane swept to one side, leaning back on three legs, with the front right foreleg raised, the saddle covered with a cloth incised with design, the tail tied back neatly by a ribbon, (traces of pigment), 72 cm high. The result of CityU Professional Services Ltd thermoluminescence test no. 02495 is consistent with the dating of this lot. Provenance: Acquired from a private collection, Melbourne, 2008.
