An important Apulian red-figure Lekythos, attributed to the Painter of Louvre Mnb 1148, circa 345 B.C. body decoration in two registers, the upper register depicting an Amazonomacy involving two Amazons in oriental dress both on rearing horses, with ivy leaf and rosettes above, dotted ground the lower register depicting four seated and standing women in a landscape, with rosettes and ivy leaves above, dotted ground below handle a composite design of palmettes and rosettes, elsewhere bands of decoration, lip and foot reserved, 60.4 cm high Provenance: ex Graham Geddes collection; Sotheby's London 8 December 1986, Lot 195; Sotheby's London 13-14 December 1982, Lot 297
