An Attic red-figure bell Krater, attributed to the Retorted Painter, circa 380-360 B.C. side a depicting a battle between four Arimasps and two Griffins, the Arimasps dressed in eastern costume with Phrygian caps side b depicting Nike standing with a phiale in left hand and reaching out with the right to a youth holding a staff, with a further youth holding a tympanon and looking on to the left each scene above a patterned ground line and enlivened with white paint with double palmettes under the handles, bands of decoration around the handles and under the rim, slim bands on the foot, lower body and handles reserved, (losses to surface and foot), 42 cm high Provenance: ex Graham Geddes collection; Sotheby's London 20 May 1985, Lot 383
