An antique Japanese timber sword rack. Edo period, circa 1750-80. Traditionally only permitted to be kept by samurai families, the lacquered and gilded rack, depicting a traditional mountain, lake, blossom and pavilion scene in various shades of gold to the triple peak shaped central panel, with stylised tree branch side arms and upon arched trestle ends, all with applied gilding.
