On a gesso prepared hardwood panel and painted in tempera in a subdued palette depicting the mother of God gazing at the viewer, with the child Jesus gazing at his mother, his right hand raised in a gesture of benediction and cradling a bible in the crook of his left arm, evidence of now missing applied work or obscured script above image and to sides. Height 26 cm. Width 17.5 cm
