Jiaoyi Chinese hardwood pair of folding horseshoe back armchairs 19th/20th century, possibly Huanghuali, each chair has a rounded crestrail ending in outswept handrests which are supported by the curved extensions of the front legs. The back splat carved with pierced panels with qilins amongst stylised clouds & scrolls. The front stretcher is beneath a foot-rest which has three coin shaped pierced metal plaque, the wood with fine grain & patina.
