Pitcairn Island folk art, three items of woodware including a timber candle holder with inscription 'Pitcairn Island was settled in 1789 by a small band of Englishmen, and headed by Fletcher Christian and assisted by Edward Young this small colony grew and prospered. Today there are about 189 inhabitants most of whom can trace their lineage to the nine original English settlers.
