An early 1900s Samoan hardwood kava bowl, with 12 legs and carved lug with remains of sennit cord, remains of old yellow kava staining to the interior. Together with a hardwood kava pounder tubular handle with tapering square sections to the base with carved grooves to three sides. Provenance: Was obtained by the vendor's grandfather when he was a surveyor for the New Zealand Government to the Pacific Islands during the early 1900's. Diameter 40 cm
