A bonheur du jour / ladies writing desk, 19th century., probably English. Satinwood, mixed various veneer work construction. The desk has a single lower drawer with five desk top stationery drawers. The upper desk is decorated with a twin brass gallery, gilt metal mounts on the door panel, and two porcelain portraiture plaques depicting fashionable ladies. The base has four turned reeded legs with a full stretcher type joining rail decorated with applied ormolu beaded mounts. Height 152 cm. Width 124 cm. Depth 49 cm
