A rare ceremonial rhinoceros horn libation cup, carved in relief with an elephant head handle, finely detailed in relief with stylised taotie masks and scrolls and with a single horned dragon under the lip, the top rim with fine carved repeating squared scroll repeating band, a short pedestal foot, good dark brown tone with black inclusion. 12.5 cm x 9.8 cm x 12 cm. Provenance: Bought to N.Z. c.1960 when our vendor immigrated.
