A diamond butterfly brooch, circa 1860, retailed by Hancocks & Co, London, the pierced wings set throughout with rose-cut diamonds, accented by fourteen graduated old-cut diamond collets, the body centring an old-cut diamond weighing approximately 0.50 carat, to the old-cut diamond head with cabochon ruby eyes and rose-cut diamond antennae, diamonds approximately 4.60 carats total, mounted in silver and gold, with later retailer's case by Hancocks & Co. (Jewellers) Ltd, 1 Burlington Gardens, London, Wix Ild and a copy of the original retailer's receipt dated 18 December 1980, wingspan 6.1 cm, length 5.3 cm
