A sapphire and diamond ring, early 20th century, the navette-shaped plaque set thoughout with old brilliant-cut diamonds, centring an oval-shaped sapphire, weighing 3.81 carats, the shoulders each set with a single diamond, to the bevelled hoop, diamonds approximately 1.00 carats total, mounted in yellow gold, plaque 48.0 mm x 15.0 mm, ring size P 1/2 . Accompanied by a report from the Gem Studies Laboratory (GSL), Australia, stating that the sapphire is of Ceylon (Sri Lankan) origin, with evidence of heat treatment.
