A fine Anglo-Indian campaign secretaire chest of 8 drawers. Camphorwood with reeded ebony drawer blades with sandalwood secondaries. Central drawer fitted with fold out writing slope & compartments. Ornately carved gallery back. Early 19th century. Formerly the property of Captain Bushrod Bennett Taylor (U.S. Navy) who purchased the chest while serving on the Asiatic Squadron trading with China in the 1860s.
