British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1913: 1911 (Jan.19) envelope sent by George Simpson (Expedition Meteorologist) to his sister in London; bearing the 1d Victoria Land stamp tied by 'Brit. Antarctic Expd' datestamp and with the 'Terra Nova R.Y.S.' crest printed on the backflap. Very few covers are recorded with this despatch date c.d.s., the first day it was used on the 'Terra Nova' and coincidentally, the day Mt. Erebus was first sighted
