A hardwood folding horseshoe-back armchair Jiaoyi, 19th/20th century with rounded crestrail ending in outswept handrests supported by the curved extensions of the front legs, the curved back splat carved and pierced with a ruyi -shaped cartouche enclosing a coiled dragon and a rectangular panel of a qilin, the seat frame carved with two chilong and the whiplash curve of the front legs securing metal bamboo-form struts to the crestrail, with metal strapwork on the structural joins and on the footrest 108 cm high, 70.5 cm wide, 62 cm deep.
