Gun metal fitting from HMAS Australia (World War I), with attached tag indicating from Horsham collection, 2.4 cm wide, HMAS Australia was an Indefatigable-class battle cruiser launched in 1913 and commissioned as flagship of Royal Australian Navy. She served in World War I. The disarmament provisions of the Washington naval Treaty required the destruction of Australia as part of Britain's commitment, and she was scuttled off Sydney heads in 1924.
