19th century painted and gilded icon of the Virgin Hodegetria, with a gilt metal riza. 'Hodegetria' is Greek for, 'One Who Shows the Way'. This icon is after the image in the Mt Athos Monastery in Greece dating from 1629, the virgin is shown enthroned and dressed as an Empress in the Byzantine Court
