Of Olympic Interest A Rare German Silver Presentation Marriage Cup Late 19th century Cast as a woman in period attire her arms raised holding foliate supports and a swinging upper cup above a flared foliate embossed base bearing the inscription translated from German: 'In Remembrance of the Olympic Year Munich Prinzregenten Stadium 17.18.19 February 1936 Nurnberg Linde-Stadion' hallmarked 800 33.5 cm high. Provenance: private collection Victoria. Note: according to family history this cup was presented to the current owner's parents Violet and Leslie Cliff at an Olympic pair ice skating championship at the Munich Olympics in 1936. Violet and Leslie Cliff were British Pair Skating Champions in 1934 1935 1936 1937 and 1938.
