A pair of Chinese soapstone horses, late Qing Dynasty to Republic era, early 20th century, in deep rich modulating amber and russet tones, the two naturalistically carved animated horses upon integrated stone bases, one with its foreleg raised, the other biting its knee, both with incised character marks underside, and upon fitted timber bases.
