A French boulle and ormolu, three door credenza late 19th century. The credenza is decorated in the 'Boulle' style with pierced-cut brass and red tortoiseshell inlay, against a black 'ebonised' patinated finish. The cabinet is serpentine shape with a central boulle panel door, flanked by curved glass doors. The top cabinet edges, base and door panels, feature bronze ormolu inlay, beading, applied mounts and figural cast busts of neoclassical style mythical portraits. Height 118.5 cm; length 215 cm; Depth 55 cm. Note: the term 'Boulle' refers to the workmanship style created by French cabinet maker 'Andre-Charles boulle ', using polished brass and stained tortoiseshell, marquetry work.
