London, E.& F.N.Spon, 1860. First edition.12 chromolitho plates with guard leaves, 8 plates repeating in purple outline the designs of eight of the chromo plates, 44pp. printed in red and black, advert. leaf, square 8vo., publisher's cloth blindstamped, with elaborate gilt titling on front board. Tips and edges a little rubbed and with small chip from head of spine. Generally a very good copy, sometime recased without loss; Smith, Henry D. An Introduction to Plain and Ornamental Writing; Consisting of Seven Alphabets for the use of Schools, &c. by Henry D. Smith, London. Leeds & Otley, Webb, Millington & Co., 1851. 8 engraved plates including the calligraphic title page, oblong 8vo. (135 x 235 mm.), publisher's printed glazed wrappers. Some moderate foxing but a very good copy.A near-identically titled booklet ('Ten' in place of 'Seven') By Smith Was Issued in the Same Year By the Same Publisher. Both Titles Seem Rare with Only One Copy of Each Located in Worldcat.
