Spine and hinges cracking but binding firm. Each issue is missing an engraving of an embroidery pattern or similar according to the list of plates, but these were never present in this binding; Periodical - Men's Fashion. the Gentleman's Magazine of Fashions, Fancy Costumes, and the Regimentals of the Army, ...The fashions are by English, German, and French Tailors of the first eminence. Vol.i. May to December, 1828 [and] (Vol.ii.January to August, 1829.) London, Published by Mr. Bell, 1828 (-9). 26 (of 28) hand-coloured fashion plates, 4 (of 16?) hand-coloured 'regimental' plates of diagrams of uniforms, 158 and 168pp., 8vo., rebound to style in 1/2 morocco and marbled boards. Missing all before page 9 of No.1 including the fashion plate, and missing a second fashion plate for April 1829. the 'regimental' plates are missing from Nos.4 and 6-16, probably before the issues were bound up as there is no sign of offsetting. a very uncommon periodical chronicling the later phase of the Regency Dandy phenomenon. Copac lists only the British Library run. the first series ran from 1828 to 1838. a second series began in 1839.
