Oblong folio, sometime recased and front board re-attached with inner hinges strengthened, red morocco spine and tips worn, spine gilt, parchment boards worn and marked. a superb collection of calligraphic, exotic and fantasy alphabets and displays. Note. Midolle has replaced three of the plates in the second volume with an original drawing personalised for the owner; one with a tipped-on sheet with a tiny fine ink drawing of a calligraphic bookplate(?) with the name 'Julie Leclercq'. the colour plate in the third volume is a mounted drawing in red, green, blue and black inks, signed by Midolle. It is a calligraphic frame for a decoratively lettered inscription ' Dedie a Mlle Julie Leclercq, Pensionnaire' with 'Midolle' lettered within a scroll in the frame.
