An English early 18th century Japanned chest of drawers, originally from a chest on stand and later converted with bracket feet, the surfaces decorated in a relaxed pattern of figures, birds and flowers, in gilded raised gesso on a black background in imitation of Oriental lacquer work. Configured as three short drawers above three of full width with slightly later brass furniture, all oak construction with slender drawer sides and front to back drawer bases. c.1710 - 1730. 103 cm x 56 cm x 99 cm
