An impressive George III silver samovar by Francis Butty and Nicholas Dumee. London 1768. Ovoid vase shape raised on capstan stem from an undulating square plinth base with pierced apron, supported on ball and claw feet. Two sinuous scroll handles issue either side of the urn, the tap with ivory spigot issues low from the body. The tall close fitting cover conforming to the stem, surmounted by a flaming challis finial. A crest of a demi-griffin rampant within a floral wreathed cartouche engraved to the body. Height 52.5 cm
