An interesting medal group and album associated with Captain Eben J Thomas (1858 - 1920), R. N. Retired, Capt. Paymaster Imperial Forces South Africa, Navy League Auck. Branch pres., Auck. Hosp. house manager, and joint treasurer for the Auck. Motor Ambulance fund. In these capacities Thomas was awarded the following: a 9ct gold medal engraved and applied with a fret cut ambulance, presentation engraved and dated 1915 ' To Capt. F. J. Thomas In connection with the subscription raised by him For Three Motor Ambulances for the Citizens of Auckland Presented by Spink & Miller Ltd. '; a Navy League cross with 'Special Service' suspension bar; a miniature of his South Africa medal. The album of press clippings collates reports on the numerous societies and agencies of his interest 1911 to 1914
