A reclining chair made by Josephus Hargreaves of Nelson, c. 1842. A very rare and possibly the earliest piece of New Zealand wooden furniture offered at auction. In hand sawn totara Purportedly one of six made. The hinged curved rail back with hand forged hinges above a shaped seat on turned front legs.
