Map: La Perouse, Jean-Francois de Galaup, Conte de 1741 - 1788 original chart from 'Voyage de la Perouse au Tour du Monde', published in Paris 1797. 34 x 50 cm. Note label verso: 'La Perouse arrived in NSW in 1788 to discover the English had already settled. Sailing on he and his ship disappeared. His fate, shipwreck on Vanikoro was not discovered until 38 years later.'
