Description:
Attributed to Nicolas Sageot, Louis XIV bureau mazarin, French c. 1700, ormolu-mounted and brass-inlaid tortoiseshell, ebony and ebonised boulle marquetry, inlaid overall with Berainesque motifs, rectangular top centrally inlaid with a figures beneath a baldequin, within engraved strap-work, foliate scrolls, flying put birds and insects, masks, bowls of flowers, dragons, monkeys, jesters and therms, above a recessed frieze drawer and kneehole cupboard, flanked to each side by three bow fronted drawers over moulded lapets. Height 81 cm width 130 cm depth 73 cm. Provenance: collection of a gentleman, Sydney labels Cf.
