John Montagu, 4th Earl Sandwich (1718-92, first Lord of the Admiralty during the American War of Independence, he assisted Captain Cook in fitting out his fleet in 1778, and the Sandwich Islands [later called Hawaii] were named after him), Admiralty Warrant dated 25th Jan.1779 signed by Sandwich, John Buller & Henry Penton, transferring midshipman Charles Grey from Hms Squirrel to Hms Convert, countersigned by Sir Phillip Stephens.
