Description:
East German NCO border guard uniform and a East German Infantry helmet the uniform with insignia on collars and a pair of matching breeches. The helmet with no rivets on outside. The final version of the M56/76. Has sponge padding to front and rear of inside liner, with leather chin straps with plastic liner braces mounted to the shell by six 'points'. This helmet was initially designed by Germany during World War II which resulted in the model B/II, being very similar to the M56/76. The East German army adopted the World War I tested model B/II helmet. This model used between 1978 and 1991, with such very little wear to helmet and liner, suggests that the helmet has never been issued.
