Oak dower chest carved and signed by Ellen Nora Payne, Tasmanian wood carver (1865-1962). Carved with the words 'Home Keeping Hearts Are Happiest 1947' and '1947 Dower chest Norah and Tulloch field' with the initials 'N.P'. Decorated with acorn and Wren carving on ornately carved lions head feet. Length 130 cm, 56 cm x height 54 cm. Provenance: Field family by descent (Ellen Nora Payne Nee field)
