A pair of exceptionally rare 19th century Tongzhi Chinese porcelain brushpots, with French ormolu mounts. Canton famille rose decoration of birds, butterflies and flowers, on turquoise background below a pendulum border. The gilt bronze mounts have rope twist upper and lion's paw feet. These brushpots are arguably the finest examples of Canton famille porcelain ever offered in New Zealand. Good condition, minor wear only. Height 20.5 cm including mount
