A very rare large 19th century Daoguang Chinese porcelain water jug, with near matching basin. Canton famille rose enamel decoration of birds, butterflies and flowers with lavishly gilded leiwen or thunder pattern border. Note: a pair of similarly shaped jugs are illustrated in Schiffer's Chinese export porcelain, page 152, here the authors suggest that they May have been made for the near Eastern market since the tops and spouts suggest Islamic pottery forms.
