A fine pair of Classical revival meat dishes, possibly Spode. 51 mx 40 cm. Provenance: Acquired in 1885 by Sir John Franklin,Governor of Tasmania, The pattern is based on engravings published in 3 volumes by Compte De Cayles in 1765.The Herculaneum pattern is recorded by Copeland and Garrett as pattern no 6354.The decoration is also inspired by the Duke of Hamilton's vases.
