Rob (dog handler), the mid-brown toned canvas with inset brass ring fastening eyes to the top, a length of sturdy rope stitched to the base in a circular form, stencil detail 'M. R.O.B.B. I.G.Y., Scott Base'. Length 800, diameter approx. 40 cm An extract within the 'Antarctic' (successor to 'Antarctic News Bulletin'. Vol. 2, No. 1 March 1959 refers to Murray, Rob and their expedition to Cape Crozier and includes the H.M.N.Z.S. 'Endeavour'. I.G.Y. refers to the International Geophysical Year Project of 1957 laying the ground work for the building of the Scott Base.
