After Hugo Rheinhold bronze 'Affe Mit Schadel' inscribed 'Rheinhold 1897', mounted on a marble base. An early casting of the original, shows the ape in the position of Auguste Rodin's Thinker whilst seated upon a pile of books including literature by Charles Darwin and a bible quote 'Sicut Deus Eritis'. Some damage and restoration to the neck and leg. Height 65 cm
