A rare late 17th century English silver Trefid spoon, the handle end of three-lobed form suggestive of a cleft hind's hoof, the oval bowl with traditional rat-tail support, the prominent maker's mark for Thomas Allen, a noted spoon maker c.1678-1692, the other marks showing some wear. Length 19 cm. Weight 46gms.
