A pair of Carlton Ware 'New bird of Paradise' vases, circa 1958/59, pattern 4794, on a shape introduced late 1930s, of slightly flared form with horizontal ribs to the base and chilong style gilt handles and decorated with gilt and enamels with an exotic bird flying over floral sprigs, upon a rouge lustre ground; with impressed shape mark, backstamp and paper labels underside. Height 18 cm.
