A Chinese stone head of a Lohan, probably Song Dynasty, 12th-13th century. The face with serene expression and the eyes downcast. 21 cm high, 33 cm high with stand. Provenance: Estate of Alex Biancardi, Mossgreen Auction, 17/11/2009, lot 639 (Alex Biancardi was a famous International dealer and collector who dealt with some of the world's major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum and also donated pieces to the Art Gallery of NSW.). From the private collection of Robert Bleakley, cataloguer of Tibetan and Indian art, London, 1978-1982. Founding CEO and chairman of Sotheby's Australia, 1982-1998.
