A pair of George II silver meat platters, by William Cripps, London 1748 each of shaped oval outline with a moulded edge and gadrooned borders, engraved with a crest and coat of arms, length 31.5 cm, weight 1247gms. (2), The crest and coronet of BRODRICK, Viscount MIDLETON. George Brodrick was born in October 1730 and succeeded as 3rd Viscount Midleton in the Peerage of Ireland, on the death of his father on 8 June, 1747. He married Lavinia, sister of the 1st Viscount Sydney in 1752 and died in August 1765. Of the couple's four sons Charles became Archbishop of Cashel and John became a General in the army
