A small Chinese jizhou 'tortoise shell' tea bowl, Song Dynasty, with conical sides rounding up towards the rim, covered inside and out with a rich dark brown glaze splashed in translucent golden glaze in imitation of mottled tortoiseshell, the glaze ending short of the foot to expose the buff-colored granular ware, a faint ink mark to the base supposedly a collector's mark, 11.3 cm diam., 5.5 cm high
