Chinese export armorial octagonal platter, c. 1785. Decorated with arrow bands and the arms of Bruce. 'Fac bene ne dubitas'. Wear to enamels. Note: Howard's Chinese armorial porcelain. Vol 1, p. 665. Illustrates two pieces with similar armorials but misspelled motto. ('Fac bene ne duettas') Metropolitan Museum New York. The motto correctly translates as 'We do not hesitate'. 28.7 x 20.5 cm
