A fine 19th century inlaid deed box, the hinged lid inlaid with a trophy group of birds, quivers of arrows and fruiting boughs, the walls decorated with 'tumbling cube' pattern parquetry, the interior with a hinged lift-up cover to reveal a compartmentalised lower half, lined with blue moire taffeta. Old paper label affixed underneath printed with an Earl's coronet and initials M.C.D. (Lord Derby?). 32 cm x 22 cm x 14 cm
