Two carved ivory figures Qing Dynasty, 19th century comprising one of a fisherman, seated on a rockwork base, holding a staff in one hand and a fan in the other, his wide-brimmed hat and a wicker basket to either side, wearing a loosely draped robe over wide pantaloons tied below the knee, his head with long beard and hair drawn into a high coil; the other of a scholar seated on similar rockwork, holding an open book and a fan, his head covered with a close fitting hat with long sash falling over the back of his long robe, some details picked out in black, wood stands (4) 17 cm; 16.5 cm
