A rare Australian folk art specimen tea caddy box, c.1929, made at the Wertheim piano factory. Burnley Melbourne, with inner label detailing some of the timbers used, including Queensland maple, silky oak, mountain ash, jarrah and swan bone. The top panel of the box is decorated with painted, veneers and bone inlay depicting two swans in a pond. The front of the box is decorated with inlay scroll, veneers of bone and ebony depicting a star with a SW monogram. The inner lids are jarrah and inscribed: 'Best Wishes to You' & 'And good Luck'. The underneath is inscribed: 'Made at 505 Swan St Burnley, 1929 JM'. Height 12 cm. Width 30.5 cm. Depth 18 cm.
