Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865): 16th President of the United States of America; Original Signature on Military Appointment of George A. Mursick to the position of Assistant Surgeon of Volunteers (9th Oct.1863). Dr. Mursick was quickly promoted to Surgeon in charge of United States Army General Hospital at Duvall's Cliff, Arkansas. He was present at many noted Civil War battles. Partially printed document on vellum with embossed Presidential seal, also signed by Edwin M.Stanton, Secretary of War under Lincoln & Andrew Johnson until 1868.
