A magnificent pair of 19th century Chinese baluster vases, decorated in canton famille rose enamels, with alternating panels of birds, butterflies, flowers and figures in a courtyard. The shoulders with gilded salamanders and lion dogs. The vases mounted onto an elaborate bronze elephant footed bases, good condition, minor chip to one salamander. Fritting to underside of rims, with some enamel losses and wear to gilding, and slight restoration to some enamels. Late 19th century. Height 48 cm (incl. Base)
