A creamware mug, circa 1790 the cylindrical body decorated with an oval transfer panel depicting George Barrington picking the pocket of J. Brown Esq, in black on caramel-toned ground, 12 cm high. Note: George Barrington was a notorious and skilled pickpocket who was transported to the Colony in 1791 where he gained the first Warrant of Emancipation granted in Australia and then occupied the position of Superintendent of Convicts, the Chief Constable of Parramatta!
